Collagen Testing Assay

To characterize the fibrotic activity of the inflammatory response in dystrophic mice as well as in other disease models, a colorimetric assay is used to quantify the amount of collagen within tissues. Tissues are first homogenized and then broken down further by acid hydrolysis. The colorimetric assay will then react to hydroxyproline residues of the collagen indicating the degree of fibrosis within the tissue samples.
